Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

I've heard people say that Peyton Manning is to blame for the Colts' loss against the Chargers.  This is ludicrous.

Did Manning fumble on the second drive? No. It was Marvin Harrison.

Did Manning's hands of stone deflect a pass into a Chargers' defensive lineman? No. That was Kenton Keith.

I'll admit that one of Manning's throws to Reggie Wayne was high, but it still hit Wayne in the hands and was deflected toward a Chargers' cornerback.

Why isn't the defense getting blamed for not stopping the Chargers from marching down the field, even when LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers were on the sidelines?

You might not like Manning, but you can't blame him for this loss.

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

Manning had that game won. You are 100% right. I wouldn't blame just 1 person but collectively they blew that game.

defensive and offensive. they gave away at least 13 points to turnovers.

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

By nature of the position he plays he will get the credit for the wins, and have to take the blame for the losses. It may not be right, but that's the way it is. He didn't win the superbowl last year, but he was the mvp.

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

I`m guessing its just because the Colts were expected to win;otherwise Peyton had a fantastic game with his two picks coming because guys didn`t look the ball in (he can`t throw and catch the ball).I didn`t like the play-calling at the goal line but also the O-line quit giving Peyton anytime to throw and the Charger defense deserves some credit also.Day in and day out game after game Peyton and Brady are in a class of their own and regardless of who your respective favorite team is this is an absolute fact!

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

Peyton gets the blame because he threw 2 or 3 interception, granted they were tipped, but he gunning the ball into heavy traffic all game.  And with the game on the line, he didn't get the job done inside the 10 yard line.  Great qbs get the job done, and if this was the first or only time he has has a bad playoff game, fans would let it pass.  His record in the playoffs is spotty at best, even when we won the Super Bowl, he had two lousey games.

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

Maybe because he is the highest paid player in the NFL and he is the face of that franchise.  Peyton Manning has also willed that team to win so many times in the past I think people just expect it now.

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

My friend, the reason is very simple: He gets most of the blame for getting out of the playoffs early, just like he gets MOST of the credit for WINNING the Superbowl. To quote and old cliche' phrase: with GREAT powers, comes great RESPONSIBILITY. That in turn generates ACCOUNTABILITY and name recognition. Therefore, Peyton=Colts. If they lose it's Peyton's fault, if they win it's all Peyton.
Agree?

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

Peyton is now the poster boy for the NFL. About half the commercials you see endorsing an NFL product is with Peyton's face on it. This then makes his team's performance magnified because of his stature. It was great when he won the Super Bowl last year cause he finally got that monkey off his back and shook off the label of not being able to win the big game. But, with the exception of last year's championship, the Colts have lost two home playoff games after getting a bye week. I'm not saying its all Peyton's fault, as both games were extremely close BUT since he is the franchise, he shoulders the bulk of the blame. It comes with the territory.

Only two guys get picked on when a football team loses- the quarterback and the head coach. It's the way of the media driven world.

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

Football is a QB driven sport. Its not what you want it to be, no matter how many players, fans, owners, etc. say its a team game, the primary handler of the football is the QB. And If you noticed, the moment that Bill Parcells, took over the Miama Dolphins franchise, he went looking for a QB. So in turn if a team loses or wins, the QB is going to get the blame or the glory. They are the face of the franchise. No matter how bad the hands of K Keith are, or how many turnovers the team has, the QB is going to be critized or glorified for the results.

Why is Peyton Manning getting the blame?

Peyton Manning got the blame because the fans i think always blame the QB it is stupid and i think they just didn't put enough effort into their play and the Chargers just out played them.
