Is Jim Sorgi finally getting replaced?

Posted on: July 24, 2008 3:34 pm

I must admit that I've never been a fan of Jim Sorgi because of his inaccuracy. Some could say that he's not as effective because he always plays with the backups and doesn't have the time he needs with a second or third string offensive line.

The problem with that argument is that when he does a quick pass with virtually no pressure, he still overthrows the receiver or throws it to a spot that allows a defender to make a big hit on that player.

Well, the Colts staff might have finally opened their eyes at Sorgi's inept play. Since Peyton Manning is possibly out for the first three Preseason games, the Colts need a QB that can actually get the ball to the receiver.

The Colts have added depth to their quarterback position by signing Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen, the hefty lefty who used to backup the other Manning.

I just hope that one of these quarterbacks impresses the coaching staff enough to replace Sorgi and give the Colts a viable option late in the season if they decide to rest players.

You know how to tell if a team is great or not? Someone writes a blog worried about the backup QB. Try being a Vikings fan and go into the season with all the pieces in place for a contending team, except for a QB. You have a HoF QB who will most likely break all of Favre's records, who has started every game that he has been in the league. Must be nice to root for a team that is a Superbowl contender every year and the only left to fret about is a backup QB that only plays in insignificant situations.
